Daily Life Talks: Keep the Generational Blessings

generational blessings

Break the generational curses, but remember to keep the generational blessings.

Some time ago, it seemed popular to talk about breaking generational curses. I understand why. It’s a shame to see whole families keep the same issues from generation to generation, when those issues can be resolved. Generational curses should be broken. If you have some in your family, break them! But remember that your ancestors didn’t only give you things that need to be broken off your life. They gave you good things too. They gave you generational blessings.

About a month or so before my grandmother passed away in July of this year, my mother told me that she was a talented sewist. I was floored. I knew my mother was a sewist. She made some of my special occasion dresses growing up and people thought she bought them. I didn’t know my grandmother sewed like this too. I sew now and have sewing classes and a sewing community for students. Finding this out about my grandmother helped me to recognized the generational blessings that were passed down from her to my mother, and then me.

Find out what yours are. Cultivate them to their fullest potential. Then pass them down to the next generation!
