Daily Life Talks: One Way to Look at Rejection

Rejection feels terrible even when you didn’t want to be selected. It can make you feel like you’re dying when you wanted more than anything to be selected. But when you take your emotions out of it, rejection can be confirmation or clue.

Sometimes we have a feeling we’re going to be rejected before it happens. So when it happens, it’s merely confirmation of what we already knew or felt. But sometimes we don’t have a clue that rejection is on it’s way. So once it happens, it becomes the clue that we’re on the wrong path. If we pay attention and not allow our emotions to rule, we can use it to guide our next steps.

No one I know likes being rejected. But let us look at it as a gift that frees us to pursue what is best for us instead of losing time pursuing that which is not.
