Staying Warm with Women’s Business Casual Wear (What to Wear and When)

Summer is my favorite season. But Summer can’t last all year. So I’ve learned how to make the most of every season in a year. One of the challenges of Winter is how to stay warm without breaking out the sweat suits. Yet, I’ve observed that many quality designers release some of the cutest sweaters, sweater dresses and warm pants. So, if you know your personal style you have an amazing opportunity to wear clothes you love that you can’t wear any other time of year!

That being said, let’s talk about what you’ll need to stay warm with women’s business casual wear.

1. Leggings and fleece lined tights. These are a life saver, especially if you don’t have the budget to buy winter pants or dresses. They go perfectly with belted t-shirt dresses or under lightweight pants. You can add socks for extra warmth or if your tights don’t have feet. One of my favorite pairs of pants is lighter weight crepe fabric pair of pants. I wear them often in the winter with thick leggings or fleece lined tights, with a sweater and it keeps me plenty warm.

2. Sweater dresses and sweaters. These are your best bet to replace sweatshirt material tops and pants. I would get a dress that is a little looser and you can wear a belt around your waist. Tighter fitting dresses with knit fabrics don’t always give the right look for business casual. Your sweater tops can be more form fitting.

3. Long-sleeve t-shirt dresses with belts. These are perfect to wear with your leggings and tights. The long sleeves will give enough warmth. And layering them with undershirts will also help add warmth. T-shirt dresses are also great for different body types depending on their cut and fabric.

4. Boots. You can have low top or higher for pants and skirts. You can also wear knee high boots with dresses. I would advise heels about 2″ or lower for comfort and to wear something that is more in line with a business casual look.

5. Undershirts, thin blouses and sweater cardigans. The under shirts are perfect to go under your sweaters if you are more cold natured. If you get warm easily, you can layer your undershirt under a thin blouse and a sweater cardigan. That way you can take off the cardigan if you get warm. The name of the game in cooler weather is to layer your clothes to cool off if you need to but to also stay warm.
